Kristin Cavallari is no stranger to controversy. Recently, her dating advice sparked quite the backlash.
The star of “The Hills” had something to say about it. In a chat with TMZ, she stood by her comments made on the “Let’s Be Honest” podcast. She had told listeners that it “doesn’t f—king matter” when they sleep with a new partner.
Cavallari clarified her stance. “I’m not encouraging people to sleep with anyone on the first date,” she said. She believes that if there’s a real connection, the timing doesn’t matter.
She continued, “If there’s chemistry and people really like each other, he’s not gonna judge you — or vice versa — on if you sleep with them on the first date or the 10th date.” Cavallari, who admitted she has “never slept with anyone on the first date,” felt her podcast clip was “taken out of context.”
Despite the backlash, Cavallari stands by her advice. She’s not backing down, even in the face of sexist Instagram users slamming her “trash” advice. Some even claimed the decision “matters to God.”
One follower, showing a clear misogynistic streak, wrote, “Why buy the cow, when the milk is free. Food for thought. Hookup culture destines you to end up alone.” But it wasn’t all negative. Former “Bachelor” Nick Viall and other fans praised Cavallari.
Nick Viall, the “Viall Files” podcast host, quipped, “I hear no lies.” Some shared their success stories with first-date hookups. One social media user recalled, “Same night as first date, engaged 7 months later, married 9 years. It will be okay if you bone the first night. Trust me.”
Another user noted, “these comments are crazy ??? women (and men) can do whatever they want as consenting adults.” Cavallari, who divorced ex-husband Jay Cutler in 2020, often speaks candidly about her dating life. She launched her podcast earlier this year.
The “Laguna Beach” alum co-parents Camden, 11, Jaxon, 9, and Saylor, 8, with her ex. She recently called Tyler Cameron the “hottest” guy she’s been with. Meanwhile, Cutler is dating Samantha Robertson. He made their relationship Instagram-official in October.
